Welcome

My name is Captain Michael Smyczynski and I select some of America's brightest college students to attend Marine Officer Candidate School.

Selected undergraduates can pursue a Marine officer's commission through our paid summer internship, called the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC), while recent graduates enroll in our Officer Candidate Class (OCC) program.

THIS IS NOT ROTC. All training takes place entirely outside of school, typically in the summer for undergraduates. There are no classes or other requirements during the academic year and no interruption in your studies.

We have intentionally designed this internship with no obligation for active service. This arrangement lets you gain an appreciation for the opportunities and challenges of being an officer before you decide if it is what you really want to do after college. The Marine Corps also incurs no obligation other than to let you demonstrate your leadership potential during the summer training.

If you successfully complete this summer training and go on to receive your college degree, we'll offer you an active-duty officer's commission. At this time, you have the option to accept this offer and become a Marine Lieutenant or decline it to pursue other options.

The summer training is conducted at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia, for either 6 or 10 weeks, depending on your academic class year. It is exceptionally challenging, and is designed to develop mental and physical ablitites but most importantly, test your leadership potential.

Qualified applicants interested in aviation are GUARANTEED FLIGHT TRAINING in Pensacola, Florida to become a jet or helicopter pilot after college graduation.

New officers may pursue one of a variety of career concentrations, but all positions provide new college graduates with immediate and extensive leadership training and experience and significant management opportunities, along with full benefits and a very competitive compensation package. INC., the magazine for business entrepreneurs, recently characterized the Marine Corps officer program as "the best management training program in America" (INC., April 1998).

This is an unparalleled opportunity to see if you have what it takes to be a leader in one of the most elite organizations in the world without committing yourself to service. If you are interested in someday working for the FBI, CIA, military, government or as an executive in a Fortune 500 company, the PLC program may be right for you.

I am currently conducting informational interviews and accepting applications for the upcoming classes at Officer Candidate School. If you are ready to set yourself apart from your peers and embark on a journey that will challenge you mentally, morally and physically then choose the path that few ever will and the weak never complete.

Carry On
