| Platoon Leaders Class Combined | ||
College juniors who wish to become Marine Officers have the option to apply for the Platoon Leaders Class Combined course. This is one ten week session at Officer Candidates School that can be attended after their junior year in college. The goal of OCC is to train, screen and evaluate Officer Candidates to make sure they posses the leadership potential to serve successfully as company grade officers. While at training, candidates are paid as an E-5 on the military basic pay chart, and their time in service starts the day they report to Officer Candidates School. Candidates will also receive off-base liberty starting the third weekend of OCS. Upon completion of OCS, Officer Candidates will return to school and finish their degree. At this point they will be eligible for the Marine Corps Financial Assistance Program and the Marine Corps Tuition Assistance Program. Once the candidates graduate they will have the option to be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Marine Corps. After Commissioning the new Lieutenants will proceed to The Basic School for follow-on training. |
