Officer Candidates Class |
||
College seniors and graduates who wish to become Marine Officers have the option to apply for the Officer Candidates Class. This is one ten week session at Officer Candidates School that can be attended either in the fall, winter or summer. The goal of OCC is to train, screen and evaluate Officer Candidates to make sure they posses the leadership potential to serve successfully as company grade officers. While at training candidates are paid as an E-5 on the military basic pay chart, and their time in service starts the day they report to Officer Candidates School. Candidates will also receive off-base liberty starting the third weekend of OCS. Once OCS is completed, Officer Candidates have the option to be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Marine Corps. From OCS the new Lieutenants will proceed to The Basic School for follow-on training. |
